Roleplay Guide: How to Roleplay
By: Hikaru
__________________________________________
OOC: Out of character.
BIC/IC: Back in character.
(()): These are double parenthesis, used for out of character.
Powerplaying: Forcing another character that's not yours to do something against their will. You can get permission, but I doubt anyone will give you that permission.
Godmodding: Being the all powerfull character. Having oh so many powers. (The Alpha stallion is aloud to be stronger and better than anyone else since he is the leader of the herd and he may ban anyone he chooses from the herd. He can choose to let someone also have that power. However, he has to have a good reason for banning in the guild.)

Well, first of all, roleplaying is merely a fun game, well sort of. It is like telling a story, only you are writing it out and with other poeple adding in their own little parts. Roleplaying requires imagination and good writing, but all in all, well at least my opinion is, that roleplaying is fun and a great thing to do, especially when you have nothing to do ^^
So, to get started, first you need to create a character. When you do, you need at least these things...
Name:
Species:
Gender:
Age:
Personality:
History:
These are just the basic stuff. It is probably good to add your username, and you can add other things later on, such as:
Mate:
Offspring:
Spirit/Element:
Etc.
Note: History doesn't have to be in the first list, but it is rather helpful to do so as it helps people to know more about your character and such ^.~
Once you have your character, then you are ready to start, well almost. Remember to have good gramar, such as punctuation and capitals and good adjectives and such...
Example A: shadow trotted along stopping 2 get a drink and then running about. (Wrong)
Example B: Shadow trotted along, stopping briefly to get a drink from the stream that gurgled beside him, and once more taking off to run about. (Right)
So, which one is better? The first one is rather boring and there is no adjectives at all. When good adjectives and such are used, it gives a picture in your readers' minds so that they can imagine it better ^-~
Please remember that when you are out of character you put OOC, or what you want to say in parenthesis:
Example A: OOC: I have to do something. Be back soon
Example B: ((I have to go. Be back later))
Important: And please remember to use IC/BIC when returning:
Example A: OOC: Okay, I am back!
BIC: Shadow skidding to a stop as he heard someone else approaching swiftly behind him.
Example B: ((back now))
IC: Shadow stopped to roll lazily around in the thick, green grass, growls of pleasure coming from his vocals as he pawed aimlessly at the air.
Godmoding
Godmoding is being the all powerful, invincible character. It is much hated in the world of roleplay so whatch what you do. Being an all powerful character that never dies but kills others is not allowed.
Example A: Thunder dodged Midnight's attack blow, before he knocked him to the ground and pinned him down, pressing his paw on Midnight's head, he crushed his enemies skull and therefore ended and won the battle. (Wrong)
Example B: Thunger dodged Midnight's attack, turning and attempting to knock his opponent to the ground, attempting to pin him down. (Correct)
See, with Example A, Midnight has no choice becuase it is all through. So, in Example B, it says he attempted to pin him down, so that that gives Midnight a chance to dodge or something ^^
Powerplaying
Now, powerplaying is as much hated as godmoding. Actually, powerplaying and godmoding are pretty much the same thing. Powerplaying is controling someone else's character without permission to do so. It is very easy to do so in battle scenes and such. Forcing another character to do something against their will, or saying what or what not they do is not allowed.
Example A: Lightning pinned Star down. Star looked up at him from his spot on the ground and whimpered. (Wrong)
Example B: Lightning attempted to pin Star down.(Right)
So, as I said with godmoding, Example A, does not give Star much of a choice, but Example B does. Just remember not to do these two things, it will make the rp go a lot smoother ^-~
A Few Things About Wolves:
Natural Habitat
Wolves can live in just about any place depending on their breed/species. Wolves are most popular in Alaska and northern areas, but can live in almost any terrain.
Behaviors
Wolves live in Packs where they protect and help each other, much like a family. They can spend their day hunting, watching the pups, relaxing, or playing about. A good Alpha will stop at nothing to protect his pack. However, if a lower ranking wolf disrespects a wolf of higher rank than itself, the lower ranking wolf might be banned. When a wolf lies back its ears and bares its fangs, this is a sign of anger or agression. Wolves do this in warning to other wolves. Simply lying back of the ears and tucking in of the tail means sadness, submission, or that the wolf is frightened. When a wolf howls, it is usually trying to contact companions. A wolf carrying its tail high, ears perked, and head up is usually playful and happy.
Eating
Wolves eat a variety of meats. They eat caribou, deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds, anything they can hunt. Usually the pack corners off their prey and all attack it at once, if the prey is stronger. Often times they go for the weaker prey, such as babies and older prey.
Fights
Fighting usually occurs between two males, mostly adults but sometimes pups. Females fight as well, but not as often. They will fight over food, land, mates, or even a pack. In a pack, a young wolf can challenge the Alpha to try to take over the pack, or even another wolf that is not part of the pack can challenge the Alpha. Often the Alpha wins, as he is stronger and more experienced, but sometimes he can lose. Females usually don't fight unless protecting their young or food. In rp, you can fight. In addition to these above, you can fight to gain rank. If you are an Omega, you can challenge a higher rank above you and if you beat them you can move up to their rank and they are knocked down to the lowest rank. Since this is a fantasy guild, you may have wings and spirits/elements/abilities. (see below) If you, however, lose, you will be kicked to the bottom rank and your wings will be ruined and your abilities lost.
Ranks
In a pack, it is wise for a wolf to be respectful to those of higher rank, especially the Alphas and other council members. They protect and defend the pack and therefore they can be strongest and most powerful. Anyone can challenge anyone in a fight, and if you decide to challenge one of higher rank, they can be stronger as they are higher. Just note the above. See the ranks page for the ranks of this site.
Breeding
Yes, wolves do breed, they don't live forever you know. But, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THINGS GRAPHICAL AS THAT IS UNNECESARY AND WE WILL DELETE YOU FROM THE SITE! Your character is aloud to find a mate. When you do, this is your lifetime partner. You must NEVER part. If for some reason your character's mate becomes inactive or the person that rps your mate leaves the guild, then your character's mate is considered dead and this allows your character to find another one. Please note that you can't just walk up and ask someone to be your mate just because your character likes their character. Duh, people don't do that either. So just take it slow. Your character gets to know the other's character and so forth. If you decide your character is to have pups, then it may be so, but please don't go skipping through time. It ruins everything. Just wait at least a week and a half before rping out the birth. Females usually go off on their own, not too far from the pack but far enough to have her young, and keep them protected and safe. Pups usually wait about 6 weeks before they are weened. Then they start eating meat their mother eats then coughs up for them.
A Few More Things:
Hope that helps you for now! =D Any questions simply ask them on the Questions board and they are sure to be answered ^^ Now, go have fun! XD
